This year marks the 400th anniversary of the founding of Tainan. Apollo Art Gallery will adorn the 711 exhibition room at the 2024 Art Tainan with works from nine artists: seasoned artists FAN Zhen-Jin, KUO Ching-Chih, Chen Cheng-Hong, LIU Yang-Che, and YEH Tung-Jinn, emerging artists HUANG Chih-Cheng, WANG Wen, LIAN Chia-Shin, as well as German artist Uwe Mertsch. Through art creations spanning generations and diverse life experiences, they express their care for this land and culture. This signifies the continuous inheritance and extension of the historical heritage, embracing transformation from the past to the present, ultimately giving rise to a new appearance.

FAN Zhen-Jin 1938
以生釉彩繪經窯燒創作陶板藝術,曾經榮獲臺北陶藝創作成就獎。畢業於國立藝專,畢生研究陶藝釉料,將釉料的成分及窯燒的溫度掌握得爐火純青,運用在平面藝術創作,呈現出專屬於陶藝獨特的質感。《東北海岸》以大方鮮豔的色塊,及釉料流動性的特質呈現暈染的效果,展現夕陽西下台灣東北海岸美景。
KUO Chin-Chih 1939
Through sculpture creation, using "human" as its fundamental concept, and employing the ideas of "figurative" and "abstract," as well as "solidity" and "transparency," have enriched the diversity of Taiwanese sculpture art. Awarded in national art exhibitions, the Taiyang Exhibition, and the Wu Sanlien Award, among others. "Leisure - Longshan Temple Series II" captures the natural posture and expression, conveying the sense of leisure and scenery at Longshan Temple.
CHEN Cheng-Hong 1942
Trained under the artist CHANG Yi-Hsiung has won national art exhibitions, the Taiyang Award, the Golden Goblet Award, and other accolades. With oil painting as the primary medium, he focuses on depicting the realism of Taiwanese rural life, reflecting his concern for culture, history, and the land of Taiwan, aspiring to help more people discover the beauty of this land. "Old Street" boldly portrays the appearance of Taiwanese old streets through dynamic brushstrokes and vibrant colors, revealing the artist's sincere emotions towards the land.
LIU Yang-Che 1944
Graduating from the National Art College, LIU Yang-Che has garnered accolades such as the Provincial Art Exhibition and the Golden Goblet Award. Through the medium of oil painting, He captures the diverse facets of Taiwan's landscapes on canvas, using aesthetics to promote its precious natural resources. In "Red Peony," layers of oil paint are skillfully layered to portray texture, showcasing the vivid hues and intricate patterns of the petals. Simultaneously, interwoven visual effects enhance the sense of imagination and space.
YEH Tung-Jinn 1946
YEH Tung-Jinn have been invited to hold solo exhibitions at the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, He has also participated in art fairs such as the Art Taipei and Art Solol. Many of [his/her] works primarily depict mountain scenery, employing oil pastels to convey a unique texture in the brushstrokes. The subtle color tones emit a serene atmosphere, subtly transcending the realism of landscape portrayal, symbolizing the artist's personal state of mind. In "Moonlight Sonata," moonlight illuminates the lake amidst the nighttime mountains, with swaying grasses and a tranquil scene that carries a hint of undulating waves.
Uwe Mertsch 1962
Uwe Mertsch was born in Germany and a graduate of the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts, he has participated in numerous art fairs including Art Taipei, the Frankfurt Art Fair in Germany, and the Guangzhou International Art Fair. Embracing the concept of "simplicity is beauty," he employs simple lines, shapes, and colors across various media to present a bold and unrestrained style in his creations, continually pushing the boundaries of art. In "New Style," complete pine wood carvings are painted to sculpt everyday people of all types.
HUANG Chih-Cheng 1988
Graduating from the Graduate Institute of Fine Arts at Tunghai University, HUANG Chih-Cheng has been shortlisted for the third edition of "Composition.Taiwan" and has received awards such as the Taipei Art Expo MIT Newcomer Recommended Special Zone and the Tainan New Art Award. He merges delicate ink techniques with image-based composite materials, presenting them on metallic foil to impart a unique metallic texture to the artwork. His pieces attempt to unravel the complex and contradictory interdependence between humans and nature.
WANG Wen 1990
Graduating from the Graduate Institute of Fine Arts at Chinese Culture University, WANG Wen was honored with the third place in the second edition of "Go To Taiwan." Utilizing lacquer as a medium, she often incorporates peacocks into her compositions, inspired by the dazzling appearance of peacock feathers witnessed in childhood. Through external observation and internal reflection, she uses the peacock as a metaphor for human beings. After deconstructing and transforming it into a positive self-image, "As winter passes and spring comes" symbolizes the fruitful harvest attained after repeated cultivation and experiences.
LIAN Chia-Shin 1995
Currently pursuing studies in the Graduate Institute of Painting and Calligraphy at National Taiwan University of Arts, [Name] has previously been awarded third place in the New Taipei City Art Exhibition and received honorable mention in the Pingtung Awards. "City Wanderer 16" portrays the "transitional landscapes" of daily life and journeys using mineral pigments. Through a cinematic third-person perspective, [he/she] compares [himself/herself] to an outsider observing the scene, aiming to evoke memories and experiences that are often fleeting in the blue hues of the nighttime setting.
