“Reflections” Solo Exhibition by LEE Wan-Chuan

Duration. 2025.06.27 – 12.31

Location. The One NanYuan (No. 32, Jiuxiong Lake, Xinpu, Hsinchu))

LEE Wan-Chuan studied under the senior artist LI Shih-Chiao. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of National Taiwan Normal University, then pursued graduate studies at Brooklyn College, City University of New York. He later spent several decades living in France. During his time abroad, the immersion in diverse cultures and the influence of Western artistic thinking broadened his vision, allowing him to incorporate a more expansive and multifaceted perspective into his work. As a result, his landscape and still-life paintings exhibit a distinct and personal artistic style.

LEE Wan-Chuan draws inspiration from nature, composing his paintings through the principles of light and shadow. His artistic development extends from classical figurative painting to impressionism, having deeply explored the objective forms of the natural world. From there, he moves beyond external metaphors to express an inner, subjective reality. With a sensitive eye, he not only depicts what lies before him with realism, but also internalizes it through quiet contemplation—each image becoming a reflection of his inner state.

LEE Wan-Chuan captures the fleeting light and scenes of both city and countryside—moments drawn from his daily meanderings. His works depict the vastness and grandeur of nature, boats quietly moored on reflective waters, and the subtle shifts of time and atmosphere. These images are not merely observations, but meditations—condensed onto canvas to reveal a silent dialogue between people and the landscapes they inhabit. In this exhibition, viewers can sense the ever-changing rhythms of nature across different times of day. With a paintbrush like a camera, Lee reflects not only what he sees, but also the landscapes within.
