Organized by Apollo Art Gallery, Young & Top—Emerging Artists Promotion Project” is now in its twelfth year. Dedicated to discovering and supporting distinctive and promising artists under the age of 35, the initiative provides a foundation for young talents to establish themselves in the contemporary art ecosystem through exhibitions, resource linkage, and art market assistance. This year’s theme, "Beyond the Order," invites four emerging artists—Su Hung-Yen, Chang Kai-Min, Lin Yu-Liang, and Chiang Wei-Bin—to explore the essence of order and perception through their unique visual languages. The exhibition showcases the artists’ acute sensitivity and profound reflections on contemporary reality.
“Beyond the Order” is not a synonym for chaos. Instead, it evokes a state of gradual drift—testing the boundaries between rule and exception, shifting between structure and deviation. It marks the beginning of questioning, an invitation to turn our gaze toward the margins. Each of the four artists selects a distinct perspective, venturing beyond conventional order and into uncharted realms.
SU Hung-Yen Working primarily in black, white, and grey tones, Su constructs visual spaces that are silent yet tense. His scenes are often uninhabited and soundless, resembling fragments of memory or echoes of sensation. These works go beyond mere representation—they are architectural constructs of emotion and experiments on perception and memory.
CHANG Kai-Min is known for his use of gamified settings and simulated imagery, presenting a perspective that hovers between reality and fiction. Drawing inspiration from everyday life, he transforms the ordinary into absurd visual structures, placing his figures within ambiguous missions governed by unclear rules. The result resembles a silent simulation—an experiment that loops endlessly between order and chaos.
LIN Yu-Liang frequently uses natural settings such as forests, trails, and nightscapes. The relationships between figures and their environments are close yet ambiguous, as if they are components of a larger, unspecified system. With back-turned figures, obscured faces, and uniform attire, his paintings express systematic yet indefinable scenes—inviting viewers to interpret nuanced and contemplative life experiences.
CHIANG Wei-Bin is inspired by aquarium landscaping, Chiang creates paintings reminiscent of miniature ecosystems. Aquatic plants, rocks, feeder fish, and serene arrangements illustrate a balance between organic growth and deliberate order. His work reflects on the value systems imposed on life through observation and classification, using underwater microcosms to prompt a renewed awareness of resilience and coexistence.
"Beyond the Order" is a journey between the everyday and the subconscious—a meditation on the instability of time, space, existence, and meaning. We sincerely invite you to enter this realm where reality and illusion entwine, and experience the distinctive insights these four emerging artists offer on life, space, and the everyday.
