2024.11.09 – 12.07
Opening |
2024.11.09 Sat. 15:00
Taiwan is a captivating island nation with unique natural landscapes. Different ethnic groups have migrated here over time, leaving behind a rich tapestry of historical sites and cultural heritage. Artist LIU Yang-Che, born in Hsinchu, invites everyone to explore Taiwan, Kinmen, and Matsu through his brush, depicting the beauty of various locales and expressing his deep affection for the land. LIU Yang-Che's works are known for their vibrant colors and realistic style, showcasing landscapes, architecture, pottery, and floral compositions that exude a distinctive beauty. Through layering oil paints and expressive brushstrokes, he creates unique textural effects on canvas, capturing mottled traces and a thick quality that not only enhance the visual depth but also record the passage of time.
His themes are diverse, employing clever arrangements of scale and composition to integrate different elements into a single frame, guiding viewers into a surreal world full of limitless imagination. This year, as LIU Yang-Che turns 80, his passion for artistic creation has only intensified, and he expresses his care for Taiwan through his work, documenting the beauty of its lands. The exhibition will feature over twenty oil paintings created between 2022 and 2024, including subjects such as Yushan, Matsu stone houses, Kinmen's ancient residences, Hsinchu city gates, fields, sanheyuan courtyard houses, and sunsets over the Tamsui River. The exhibition will officially open at 3 PM on November 9, 2024, followed by a "Dialogue Between Painting and Music" on November 30 at 3 PM, featuring a collaborative performance by LIU Yang-Che and classical guitarist Liu Shi-yu. Everyone is warmly invited to visit and participate!
