黃法誠 HUANG Fa-Cheng

簡介
黃法誠，1982年生於臺灣嘉義，2008年畢業於國立高雄師範大學美術學系碩士班創作組。早期創作以卡漫風格的「小明系列」為主，透過帶有冷笑話與荒謬感的角色，討論個體在群體與社會中的處境。2008年參與《北迴歸線環境藝術行動》前後，因發現故鄉海岸地景與童年記憶相去甚遠，創作開始轉向環境議題與人為景觀的觀察。2011年榮獲高雄獎優選，2014年獲第一屆「構圖．台灣」視覺藝術創作徵件首獎，2015年獲高雄獎觀察員特別獎；2024年於高雄市立美術館舉辦個展《距離風景的距離》。作品獲高雄市立美術館與藝術銀行典藏。

黃法誠的創作關注人與自然之間的互動。他常以幽默而帶點荒謬的手法，將空氣汙染、海平面上升、土石流與人為景觀等議題並置拼貼，並在畫面中安排跳水、舞蹈、攀岩等人類行為，讓日常動作置身於異化的地景之中。媒材上，他結合壓克力、水墨、碳粉與金蔥粉，並將傳統山水的「皴法」轉化為描繪土石流、消波塊與地景的視覺符號。

Introduction
HUANG Fa-Cheng was born in 1982 in Chiayi, Taiwan, and received his MFA from the Department of Fine Arts at National Kaohsiung Normal University in 2008. His early work centered on the cartoon-style Xiao Ming Series, which used a character built on deadpan jokes and absurdity to explore the position of the individual within groups and society. Around 2008, when he took part in the Tropic of Cancer Environmental Art Action, he found that the coastline of his hometown had changed drastically from his childhood memories, and his work turned toward environmental issues and the observation of human-made landscapes.

His major series include The Great Airdrop, I Want to Dive Here, Migration of Trees and Smoky. In 2011 he received a Merit Award at the Kaohsiung Awards for Duel. In 2014 he won first prize in the first“Go to Taiwan”O-Bank Education Foundation & Apollo Art Awards, and in 2015 he received the Observer’s Special Award at the Kaohsiung Awards. In 2024 he held the solo exhibition The Distance from Landscape at the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts. His works are in the collections of the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts and Art Bank Taiwan.

HUANG Fa-Cheng’s work examines the interaction between people and nature. With a humorous, slightly absurd approach, he juxtaposes and collages issues such as air pollution, rising sea levels, landslides and human-made landscapes, placing human activities like diving, dancing and rock climbing within these estranged terrains so that everyday actions appear in alienated landscapes. Working in acrylic, ink, toner and glitter powder, he transforms cun, the texture strokes of traditional Chinese landscape painting, into visual symbols for landslides, concrete tetrapods and terrain.
