The foreground is dominated by a broad expanse of water. In the middle ground, a low shoreline and a cluster of buildings appear; near the left-center are two dark, tower-like forms and roof silhouettes, layered against blue-gray mountains behind. The upper half is given to a pale blue sky with thin clouds. The composition emphasizes the openness of the water, the horizontal stretch of the shoreline, and the spatial layering between the towers and the distant mountains.
